BIG Outdoor patio and fire pit at Goldwyn's bar & restaurant makes it worth the drive to Kemptville

Goldwyn’s restaurant in the heart of Kemptville has all the rustic charm of a country bar with a bit of an elevated and modern menu. Now iff you're searching for a Country-style restaurant near Ottawa with live music on weekends, comfort food, and some southern hospitality... the locals will tell you that Goldwyn's is the best in Kemptville. So if you're really in the mood to slip into those cowboy boots and dust off that cowboy hat... this charming country saloon is worth the drive to Kemptville. The fact that it's in a little town just adds to the experience.

Inside: wood everywhere, a little stage for live music, and people who actually say hi to you. They have different live bands playing every Friday and Saturday night starting at 9:30pm and it gets pretty lively. But while this is a family restaurant, kids under legal drinking age aren't allowed after 10pm. Blame the Kemptville Liquor board for that one.

Outside: a big patio with a fire pit large enough to warm at least ten people and they even handed us blankets. Did I mention they were friendly? Gotta love these little towns.

And no... this isn't just some restaruant that plays country music and has a little country decor. Goldwyn's is all-out country from the bar to the rustic fireplace to the taxidermy. hung up on the walls.

What We Ate

FULL plates that come with a little Western grit and a little modern flair

  • Charred brussel sprouts with garlic aioli

  • A colourful grilled halloumi & beet salad from the garden

  • A big 12 oz Ribeye steak perfectly cooked and pretty well priced too.

So we've actually been back to this spot a few times now. Kemptville is an easy detour on our way back from Toronto... when the food at the En Routes just won't do it for us and we're in the mood for some tacos, pasta or steak.

We washed it all down with some cocktails. Apricot, rhubarb, tequila, gin... even one made with fresh lavender from a local Lavender farm.

After that, we grabbed a couple more cocktails and sat around the fire pit, planning our next trip back like we were locals already.

This restaurant only opened in late 2025 and they've already made a big impression on the locals for their food, community involvement and events. We only wish they were a little closer to Ottawa... but then again maybe not cause we'd be there all the time.

So check out Goldwyn’s in Kemptville. You don’t need to be country to enjoy great food and hospitality… but after a ribeye, some cocktails, and a mechanical bull ride, you might reconsider buying a cowboy hat.
